Building strong foundations for confident learners.
From PK through Grade 6, students are challenged to think, encouraged to explore, and supported by teachers who know them well.
Warm and nurturing by design — and academically rigorous by intention.
Fuqua’s Lower School is built on a simple belief: children learn best when they feel safe, seen, and genuinely challenged. Small class sizes, hands-on learning, and strong relationships create an environment where students build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
The STEAM Lab: Where curiosity becomes discovery.
Our STEAM Lab brings science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics together in a dedicated space where students design, build, experiment, and create. It’s one of the most distinctive parts of the Lower School experience — and one of the first things students want to show their parents when they visit.
What your child will learn.
Fuqua's Lower School curriculum integrates the Virginia SOLs with an emphasis on hands-on learning, real-life problem solving, and higher-level thinking.
